about

Written in 2013. This work uses the following 7 note scale: G, A, B flat, C, D, E and F sharp. Only these notes are used throughout the piece and the scale is derived from Scriabin's 'Mystic Chord'. The tonality, therefore, reflects the mystery surrounding the miraculous birth of Jesus.

lyrics

O magnum mysterium,
et admirabile sacramentum,
ut animalia viderent Dominum natum
jacentem in praesepio.
Beata Virgo cujus viscera meruerunt
portare Dominum Jesum Christum.
Alleluia!
---

O great mystery,
and wonderful sacrament,
that animals should see the newborn Lord
lying in a manger.
Blessed is the Virgin whose womb
was worthy to bear Christ the Lord.
Alleluia!
